Aw Kam Mei

BIO:
KAM MEI was admitted as an advocate and solicitor of the High Court of Malaya in 2010.
She specialises in Intellectual Property Law and Family Law. Her areas of practice include prosecuting trade mark applications in Malaysia, filing of copyright voluntary notification applications and industrial design applications, Intellectual Property litigation, contractual disputes, dissolution of marriage, division of marital property, child custody, child and spousal support. She also has vast experience in instructing foreign trade mark agents on behalf of clients to file and register trade marks in foreign jurisdictions, supervising the response to objections raised by various Intellectual Property Offices worldwide and supervising the bringing of and defending opposition proceedings in various jurisdiction worldwide. Kam Mei also acts as a legal advisor to a foreign food & beverages chain which has ventured into Malaysia since year 2019.
She is conversant in English, Malay and Mandarin.

BIO:
GOPI obtained his Bachelor of Laws from the University of London (External). He then obtained his Certificate of Legal Practice in 2010 and was then called to the Malaysian Bar on 18th August 2011.
Gopi started his legal career in the esteemed firm of Messrs. Skrine where he was practising in the area of Intellectual Property (IP) law. He joined Messrs. Joel & Mei as a Partner in April 2017.
He is well versed in matters pertaining to IP including matters relating to trademark applications, patent applications, copyright voluntary notifications, trademark disputes, patent disputes, copyright disputes, industrial design disputes, domain name disputes, IP licensing agreements and administrative enforcement raids with the Ministry of Domestic Trade.
Gopi is also a registered Trademark Agent and a registered Patent Agent in Malaysia. He is also serving as a member of the Bar Council IP Committee since the year 2017.

Bryan Teo

BIO:
BRYAN obtained his Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Manchester, United Kingdom. He then trained at College of Law, United Kingdom and was admitted as a Barrister-at-Law of the Lincoln’s Inn. He was then called to the Malaysian Bar on 7 January 2013.
Bryan started his legal career in the esteemed firm of Messrs. Zul Rafique & Partners in the area of civil litigation with an emphasis in Corporate and Commercial Litigation. His area of expertise includes contractual disputes, tortious claims, construction disputes, shareholder disputes, breach of director’s duties, insurance disputes, winding up disputes, schemes of arrangement, judicial managements, advising mergers and acquisitions, judicial reviews, contentious probate, defending claims on theft of electricity supply, land disputes, banking litigation and defamation to name a few.
He is well versed in obtaining injunction reliefs which ranges from preserving assets of the dispute to Mareva injunctions. Furthermore, he is also familiar with the workings of the bond market having been involved in various litigation matters involving asset backed securitization transactions and appeals on land assessment rates.
Thereafter, he continued his legal career at Messrs. Liza Khan Chambers (founded by a former partner of Messrs. Zul Rafique & Partners) as a senior legal associate before joining Messrs. Joel & Mei as a Partner.

Low Boon Seong

BOON SEONG was admitted as an Advocate & Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya in 2010. He was the founding member of Bar Council Constitutional Law Committee and he had led in the publication of the first Mandarin Federal Constitution Handbook during his service as the Committee Member.
His main areas of practice are in corporate & commercial law, real estate law, energy law, both in contentious and non-contentious matters.
He regularly advises on wide range of corporate and commercial exercises ranging from merger & acquisition, equity financing, EPCC agreement, assets restructuring exercise, real estate related transaction (including project financing) and etc.
He also specializes in the area of practice related to green energy and green technology in particular solar energy related transactions and green mobility related eco-system.
His clienteles ranging from public listed companies, multinational companies, small-medium enterprises, start-up companies and high-net worth individuals.

Chew Pei Ying

PEI YING obtained her Bachelor of Laws degree from University of Malaya. She was then called to the Malaysian Bar on 14 May 2010.
Pei Ying had commenced her pupillage in Messrs Lee Ong & Kandiah and had been retained as a legal associate. Pei Ying had continued her practice in Messrs Christopher & Lee Ong as a result of merger between Messrs Lee Ong & Kandiah, Messrs Christopher Lee & Co and Messrs Kamilah & Chong in year 2013.
Pei Ying practices civil litigation and her area of expertise includes contractual and construction dispute, banking litigation, employment disputes and land fraud related disputes, tort related disputes, probate and administration matters, divorce proceedings, defamation matters.
Pei Ying had joined Messrs Low Vignesh & Co as a Partner in year 2016 and thereafter joined Messrs Joel & Mei as a Partner in year 2020.
She represented clients in various tiers of civil court, adjudication and arbitration proceedings.

Nur Muhaimin
Junior Partner
MIN graduated from the Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) with a second class upper LL.B (Honours) degree in year 2014. She joined the firm on 1 July 2015 as a legal associate after served her pupillage under the tutelage of Kan Weng Hin at Messrs W H Kan.
She was made a Senior Associate of the firm in April 2019. She was subsequently promoted as Junior Partner on September 2021. Her areas of practice include civil litigation and intellectual property.
Min has significant experience in handling and assisting various civil litigation in all levels of the Malaysian courts and in intellectual property enforcement.


Carmen Yen

CARMEN graduated from University of Leeds in 2016 and was admitted as an Advocate & Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya in 2019. She joined the firm as an associate in 2019 and was promoted as Senior Associate in 2021. Her areas of practice include intellectual property and civil litigation.
